Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account information: the email address and password you sign up with (your password is stored hashed, never in plain text), and the callsign (display name) you choose.
• Channel handles: the YouTube, Twitch, or Kick channel(s) you connect so AETHER knows what to watch.
• Video and transcript data: when a VOD lands on a channel you've connected, AETHER downloads it, transcribes the audio, and processes the transcript to find and cut clips. That video and transcript data is stored on our server for as long as your account is active, so your clips and captions remain available to you.
• Telegram chat ID: if you link a Telegram account to get notified when clips are ready, we store the numeric chat ID Telegram gives us for that link — nothing else about your Telegram account.
• Invite and referral data: which invite code you signed up with, and who you've invited, since AETHER is currently an invite-only, closed launch.
• Basic usage events: things like "channel connected" or "clip ready," used to populate your own activity feed in the dashboard.

Use of YouTube API Services

AETHER uses YouTube API Services to let you connect your YouTube channel, watch it for new streams/uploads, and — only if you turn on posting — publish clips from your dashboard to that channel. By using AETHER, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.

What data we access from YouTube

When you connect your YouTube channel, AETHER requests two scopes: youtube.upload (to publish clips you choose to post) and youtube.readonly (to identify your channel and watch it for new content). Through that connection we store your channel ID and channel name, and the OAuth access/refresh tokens themselves so AETHER can act on your behalf without asking you to reauthorize every time. For each clip you post through AETHER, we also keep a small record of the resulting video ID, the clip's filename, the privacy setting it was posted with, and when it was posted. AETHER never requests, accesses, or stores YouTube analytics or statistics — no view counts, watch time, impressions, subscriber counts, or comments. This data is used solely to let you connect your channel, post clips to it, and show you posting status inside AETHER. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for anything else.

Data retention

Because AETHER never collects YouTube statistics or analytics of any kind, the YouTube API Services 30-day retention limit for that data category doesn't apply to anything AETHER stores. Generated clips themselves are automatically deleted 7 days after they're produced, on a background schedule with no manual step required. The small per-upload record described above (video ID, clip name, privacy, timestamp) is kept as a permanent posting log even after the clip file itself is gone, so there's an accurate record of what was actually posted where.

Deleting your data / revoking YouTube access

You can revoke AETHER's access to your YouTube account at any time from your Google Account security settings, or by clicking "Disconnect YouTube" inside AETHER. Disconnecting immediately revokes AETHER's access token with Google, deletes your stored YouTube OAuth tokens and channel connection from our database, stops AETHER watching that channel, and switches your posting mode back to manual. It does not delete the posting-history record described above or clips already produced — those follow the normal account-deletion and clip-retention rules on this page. What we never do

• We never sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• AETHER only posts to your connected YouTube account according to the posting mode you choose: manual (default — you review and click post yourself, every time) or semi-auto (AETHER posts automatically as unlisted, once you turn that setting on). A public full-auto mode exists but is currently limited to our own admin account during this beta. You can see and change your posting mode at any time from Ship, and switching back to manual, or disconnecting YouTube, stops all automatic posting immediately.
• We don't run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on this site. The only cookie AETHER sets is a single essential session cookie that keeps you logged in.

Third parties we use to run the service

• Anthropic API — the transcript of a clip is sent to Anthropic's Claude models to generate the on-screen hook, and to write captions and hashtags. Anthropic processes this text under its own API terms; it is not used by AETHER to train anything, and we don't send it anywhere beyond that single request.
• Hetzner — our application server and database are hosted on Hetzner infrastructure (Germany). All account data, videos, transcripts, and clips are stored there.
• Telegram — if you choose to link Telegram, notification messages are delivered through Telegram's bot API.
• Google / YouTube API Services — if you connect a YouTube channel, AETHER communicates with Google's APIs to watch that channel and, if you enable it, post clips to it. See "Use of YouTube API Services" above for exactly what's accessed and stored.

We do not use any other third-party processor today.

Your rights

You can ask, at any time, to:

• Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate account information.
• Delete your account and all associated data — see our data deletion instructions.

To exercise any of these rights, email anthmediapg@gmail.com. We'll respond as soon as we can — AETHER is currently a solo-operated service, so please allow a few days.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Since AETHER is in closed launch with a small, known group of users, meaningful changes will also be communicated directly.
