How to get your business on Google in Fiji
Practical steps, not vague SEO buzzwords.
Getting found on Google isn't complicated, but it does take a few real, specific steps — here's what actually matters, in order.
1. Claim your Google Business Profile
This is free and usually the single highest-impact thing a Fiji business can do. Go to google.com/business, claim or create your listing, and fill in your name, address, hours, phone number, and category accurately. This is what shows up in Google Maps and the local results box — often before your website even ranks.
2. Have a real website, not just a social page
Google's search results and social media feeds are separate systems — a Facebook or Instagram page generally doesn't rank in Google search results the way an actual website does. If people are searching "[your business type] near me" or "[your business type] in [your town]," a real website is what gives you a shot at showing up.
3. Make sure your site actually says what you do, in words
Google reads text, not just images. A site that clearly states your business name, what you do, and your location — in real sentences, not just a logo and a photo — has a far better chance of matching what people are actually searching for.
4. Keep your name, address, and phone number consistent everywhere
Google cross-checks your business details across your website, your Google Business Profile, and other places you're listed online. Keeping these consistent (same spelling, same number, same address format) helps Google trust that your listing is accurate.
5. Be patient — it's not instant
Ranking on Google is a gradual process, not a switch you flip. Claiming your profile and having a real website are the foundation; visibility builds from there over weeks and months, not overnight.
